Between November 1st 2012 and November 30th 2013 I was a postdoc researcher at the Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics in Tübingen (IAAT), Germany.
My research activity consisted on Geant4 simulations for the X-ray astronomy satellite mission MIRAX, and in more detailed, the study of cosmic-ray induced background in a Cadmium telluride (CdTe) X-ray camera detector. Specifically, I studied the deposited energy in the detector by galactic cosmic-ray protons and by trapped protons and electrons in the South Atlantic Anomaly with energy between 5 and 20 GeV.
The final aim was to evaluate the ageing of the camera detector of the coded mask telescope. The results of this study can be applied also to any other similar space-based missions.
